A 42-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were found charred to death at the former's residence in the Panakan area of the city here, the police said today.
The incident took place late last night, the police said, adding that the room was locked from inside when cops and fire department officials went to douse the fire.
The police has sought the help of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to investigate further.
The bodies of the woman and the man were charred beyond identification, the police said, adding that they were handed over to their respective families after post-mortem.
The police has registered a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
