Local wild card Rashmi Teltumbde knocked out Swiss girl Stephanie Theiler in straight sets to storm into the second round of the $10,000 ITF Women’s Futures Tennis tournament here on Tuesday.

Rashmi, the Indian No. 2 among junior girls, battled for three hours to overpower her Swiss rival 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 to enter the last 16, where she will meet top seed Anastasia Malhotra of Japan. Anastasia surged to a 7-5, 6-3 victory against unseeded Nupur Kaul of India.
