An evergreen place of action

Believe it or not, we all have a rather happening life, worth penning down. Even if there is absolutely nothing interesting happening, we are occupied with one thought or the other. What we long for is only a companion to share our deepest emotions; someone whom we can pour our hearts out to and yet not be judged or mocked at. And this is probably the reason why so many of us pen down our thoughts.

If you are an ardent observer with an opinion about almost everything around, and want to reach out to those who live their lives with an abded zeal, Panwadi Tales is a blog that will best serve as your personal diary, and yet not be so personal.

A blog dedicated to the people at large, Panwadi Tales has an engaging theme of bringing together the most random people in the city, united through their experiences and an urge to share them with the world. Started by a team of three architects and an MBA, the blog took shape out of the most mundane discussions. As architect Dishant Bhatia, one of the four authors of the blog, points out, “The blog is a portrayal of the city and the places we travel! The USP lies in the ‘grounded’ character of this blog. We started with the thought to make it people’s blog, where everyone could relate to his/her own life in a lighter way. People today are so occupied with things around that they actually miss the moment where they could smile.”
The blog is like a melting pot of authors’ travelogues as they explore different cities and have become “not just Dilli-centric but Dilliwale who are India-centric.”

The name itself has an interesting story to its origin. “It happened over an evening of coffee and loitering around in Janakpuri District Centre. We decided that the permanent part of a city's landscape is a Panwadi ki dukaan. That is the best place for all kinds of gossips between all strata of people – office-goers, youngsters, rickshawallahs, teenagers, brats or the sabziwala next to the panwadi. They give directions if you ask them to. They always have change. And most often people hardly ever buy paan which is actually the purpose of the Panwadi in the first place; an evergreen and permanent place for action,” recounts Anusha Narayanan, an architect and blog’s author.

Despite being the best of friends, the authors are honest and blunt to the extent of rejecting each other’s work in order to remain true to their blog. “What’s unique about our blog is that our topics are really simple; rather things we would come across daily. It’s about the smaller pleasures in life,” says Anusha.

Panwadi Tales encourages sharing of the simplest thought provocations that we otherwise tend to dismiss as random reflections. From romanticism and narratives inspired by real-life people and emotions in write-ups like ‘Half of Halves’ and ‘The Face of God’, to a piece on India’s lunching habits ‘Hindustan Ko Lunch Khajayega’ and ‘Server is Down’, there is a compendium of varying subjects they write on.

With a dedicated Photostream, there is enough in store for photographers as well. “We also have ‘Panwadi (Toon) Tales’ - cartoon tales of the daily incidences, but in our own way,” they exclaim.

Those who thought they alone have an inside voice, reacting silently on everything happening around, you know where to find your pals.
