CCTV cameras in hotels, schools, colleges mooted

New SP of Hassan, Ravi Channannavar has said that it would be made mandatory to install CCTV cameras at all hotels, liquor shops, petrol bunks, banks, schools and colleges.

Speaking at a public interaction at the rural police station in Sakleshpur, he said that the crime rate would come down if the miscreants were aware that CCTV cameras were monitoring the place and the system would also help in cracking cases.

The SP also insisted on maintaining friendly relationship with the public to remove the fear of police in them. Public interactions will be held in all the taluks of the district, he said. Priority would be given on creating awareness on police, legal facilities, traffic rules and others, he added.

A proposal would be submitted to the government on setting up police outposts at Hethur and Hanubalu regions on priority basis. Mobile police will patrol the area till then, he said.
A report would be submitted to the higher authorities on providing hi-tech vehicles and equipment to the police in view of the Naxal attacks and wild jumbo menace.

As Sakleshpur is located between Bangalore-Mangalore highway, the responsibility of ensuring smooth flow of traffic lies with the police.

While the public demand hassle-free traffic, they are opposing widening of roads, he lamented.
