JOIN USA woman has committed suicide allegedly by jumping into a pond at Koorgalli in Vijayanagar police limits.
Asha (21) wife of Suresh Babu, is the deceased. According to police, Asha who was last seen on Sunday by her neighbours, may have taken the extreme step on that day itself. The body was found in a decomposed state on Tuesday.
Police said, incompatibility among the couple could be the reason for her death. Married for a year, Suresh Babu was harassing his wife. He had forced abortion a few months ago and elders at the village had convened a panchayat. The duo had been ordered to bury differences. Suresh Babu who had repeated his behaviour, had let his wife starve on several occasions.
Meanwhile, Suresh Babu is absconding.
Six held, let off for gambling
Six persons were arrested and released on the charges of street gambling in South Police limits on Tuesday. Stake amount of Rs 1,400 has been recovered.
The accused have been identified as Ravi, Chikkanna, T Raju, Manju, Mahadeva and Ningaraju, all residents of Bhugathagalli on Mysore-Bannur road. They were found playing card game near a field on the road side, when the police team led by SI T M Puneeth raided them. They were later released on station bail.
The team consisted of constables Keshava, Mahesh, Manjunath and Keshavmurthy.
