Skipper Nair scores double ton

The Karnataka Secretary's XI's skipper Karun Nair sent Andhra bowlers on a tizzy as he despatched them all round the park to score a brilliant double century on the second day of their Group 'C' league tie in the Shafi Darashah All-India tournament played at the JSS-SJCE grounds here on Wednesday.

His individual score was 256 (344 b, 20x4s, 7x6s), making for a big total of 479 for nine before declaring in 119 overs. In reply, Andhra CA, had scored 12 for no loss in three overs at stumps .
Resuming their overnight score of 138 for one in 47 overs, Karnataka Secretary XI's skipper Nair batted with ease and gathered runs with some pleasing strokes on both sides of the wicket. Karun Nair and Mir Kaunain Abbas (56, 118b, 7x4s, 1x6s) added 125 runs for the third wicket. Later on the innings was further consolidated with a 117-runs fifth wicket partnership between Karun Nair and Anirudh B Joshi (35, 36b, 3x4s). Leg-spinner Swaroop was the most successful bowler for Andhra CA taking three for 96. 
Andhra CA were 12 for no loss in three overs, with D M Prashanth (4 n.o) and Srikanth (6 n.o.), at the crease at close, when play was called off five minutes before stumps due to bad light.
In the other Group 'C' tie at Gangothri Glades grounds, Assam took a firm grip of the proceedings against Baroda CA. Resuming their overnight score of 132 for five in 45.5 overs, Assam scored 222 in 74.2 overs. 

In reply, Baroda CA were struggling at 126 for eight in 45.2 overs, before rain halted proceedings, and play was called off at 5 pm.
