Eight govt veterinary docs to be dismissed

Minister for Animal Husbandry, T B Jayachandra on Thursday said that eight veterinary doctors will be dismissed from government service for being untraceable for the past several years.

Replying to a question by BJP MLC, Y A Narayananswamy, who sought for an increase in the intake of students in veterinary colleges to peg the scarcity of doctors in rural areas, he admitted that there is acute shortage of veterinary doctors in the state.

“Considering this I have directed the 13 veterinary doctors, who are in other departments on deputation to return to their parent department,” he said.

He also said he will set up a committee headed by a former vice chancellor to explore possibilities to increase the intake of students and the infrastructure required for it.
