Last Updated 19 May 2009, 19:44 IST

KEA officials claimed that the mock trials were successful and the connections, and instruments have been tested and tried.
Explaining the mechanism of CET counselling, SP Kulkarni, Administrative Officer, KEA said that the software designed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) was being used for the process. “Students will have to register at the particular counselling centres be it Bangalore, Hubli or Gulbarga. On registration, the details of the candidate will be updated ” he said.
Based on CET ranking and the registration number, seats and courses will be allocated to the candidate as per the choice of the candidate and the seat availability. He said that a screen with details of the colleges, courses and number of seats available will be put up. “Another device will be used where the visuals of the student selecting the course and college will be visible at all the three centres simultaneously. The upgradation is such that the system will get locked as soon as a candidate selects the course and the seat” Kulkarni added.
Six new engineering colleges may be included for the CET 2009 counselling as the institutions have been approved by the AICTE and are awaiting the approval of the State government. The CET 2009 counselling are scheduled to begin on June 4.
