JOIN USHindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on Saturday said it has delivered the first Pilotless Target Aircraft ( Lakshya 1) to the Bharat Dynamics Limited, Hyderabad.
At a programme held in Bangalore, HAL chairman R K Tyagi said, “The aircraft has been delivered ahead of schedule in record 15 months against 24 months of normal manufacturing cycle time.” He added that the aircraft will be used by the Indian Army.
The HAL is the only company in the country producing UAVs like Pilotless Target Aircraft.
The company has so far produced 39 Lakshya-1 aircraft at its Aircraft Division, Bangalore, an official press note said. These aircraft are used by the Indian Air Force, the Indian Navy and the DRDO.
Lakshya 1 is originally designed and developed by Aeronautical Development Establishment and is fully indigenous UAV.
