Pandey gets anticipatory bail for 48 hrs in Ishrat case

The CBI court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to P P Pandey, Gujarat’s ADGP, for 48 hours, asking him to be present on the court at 10.45 am on July 31 when the court will hold further hearing on the anticipatory bail.

The court had asked Pandey to present himself on Friday, but the top cop continued to remain underground ever since the central investigative agency summoned him in connection with Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case.

He resurfaced on Sunday only to be admitted on Monday in a private hospital in Shahibag area in the city as he complained of chest pain and urinary tract infection.

On Monday, he arrived in an ambulance and was carried into the court on a stretcher.

"PP Pandey got himself admitted at 11 am on Monday. He is running 100 degree temperature and his creatinine level is high and blood sugar level is around 200. It would take him two or three days to normalize,” said the doctor from the hospital, adding that Pandey requested to be in the court despite his condition and arrangements were made accordingly.

Pandey was named as an accused in the preliminary charge sheet filed by the CBI in Ishrat jahan fake encounter case along with suspended IPS officers G L Singhal, N K Amin, DG Vanzara, retired DSP J G Parmar, DySP Tarun Barot, and commando Anaju Chaudhary.
