Third arrest made in duplicate medical equipment case

Huge quantity of fake products seized at factory

A middle-aged man was arrested and a factory manufacturing duplicate medical equipment was unearthed in south-west Delhi’s Najafgarh on Sunday, police said. The accused was nabbed following interrogation of the two men in the same business, arrested earlier.

“We have seized duplicate medical equipment worth Rs 30 lakh from the factory and arrested the accused, Chandan, a native of Sultanpur in UP, in Najafgarh,” said Ravindra Yadav, additional commissioner of police (crime).

The officer said large quantity of machines, packing material, duplicate dialysis guide wires, femoral catheters and angiography guide wires were recovered from the factory.
He was arrested after his name cropped up during interrogation of two men, Gulshan and his assistant Ganesh, who were arrested on Thursday for running another illegal factory manufacturing duplicate medical equipment.

Police had arrested Gulshan at Baba Kharag Singh Marg following a tip-off. He lead police to his Madipur Village factory, equipped with modern machines installed in unhygienic condition. His assistant Ganesh was also arrested there.

A huge quantity of duplicate products and unfinished products was then recovered.
During interrogation, Gulshan led police to Najafgarh and pointed out another factory, run by Chandan. Police learnt that Chandan too was manufacturing duplicate equipment.

Chandan sold these products in the name of different national and international brands. He has also created his own firm in the name of Dr Surgical and Asian Medical Devices for legal cover.
