'Hard work can win over disability'


He was speaking at the valedictory function of the ‘Educational Workshop for Rural Handicap’ at Samanvaya School in Talagundi in Kolar on Sunday.

“Workshops like these instill confidence in disabled children and hence should be held regularly,” Shankarmurty added. He lauded the efforts of the school and the organisation-The Association of People with Disability for organising such workshop which would rejuvenate the moral of children, who live with physical deformity.

The Department would extend all the facilities required by these organisations, he added.
The emotional words of Srinath, a class X student of government school at Somayajipalli in the taluk, who expressed his gratitude, moved many people when he shared his experience. Srinath recalled how his own family members ridiculed him and his deformity. He said he was determined to achieve something in his life after attending the session.

Samanvaya School Head Joseph, Naagnaal Somanna, Vijaya Kishore and others were present on the occasion.
