Police suspect Bangladesh gang behind Vivek Vihar robbery, murder of four person

Last Updated 19 August 2013, 22:16 IST

The murder of four people, including a businessman at his bungalow at Vivek Vihar in the wee hours of Monday has left the investigators baffled and clueless. The police are looking at every possible angle in their probe.

The investigators noticed that Bajrang Lal Bokadia’s bungalow is the residential building closest to the railway track in Vivek Vihar phase-2. Though there are other houses in the same lane, his house is located in the corner.

The investigators suspect that if it’s a robbery-cum-murder case, it could be the handiwork of Bangladeshi robbers who generally — after doing recce—  come in the group of eight to ten during night through railway tracks, commit robbery, kill the victims and flee on the same track.

In past too, Bangladeshi robbers have targeted several houses near railway tracks in east Delhi. After committing the act, they walk along the track and catch a train for West Bengal from the New Delhi Railway Station .

In a span of six to seven months, they carry out a big robbery in east Delhi and return to their country.

“The modus operandi of this crime seems to be the same as that of Bangladeshi criminals who are usually involved in such kind of robberies. They tend to target the houses located near the rail tracks,” said an investigator.

The police have not ruled out the possibility of personal enmity as the role of a mysterious woman has come to light. After Bokadia returned from his native place in Rajasthan to Delhi on Sunday, he got a call that his car’s key, which he left at his native place, has been misplaced.

As a duplicate key was at the Vivek Vihar bungalow, he replied that he will send someone to his native place with the key. His younger brother Pukharaj Bokadia, who lives in Surajmal Vihar, sent his servant to fetch the key on Sunday night.

“When his servant knocked on the door initially no one replied. But after few minutes a mysterious woman comes out of the house and hands over the key and went inside,” said a close relative.

This raises suspicion of personal enmity and also the chances of woman belonging to the Bangladeshi gang. Police have also interrogated the servant who was the last visitor to the house on Sunday. He told investigators that he saw a woman inside the house. Police are also searching for the woman.

The crime, local and forensic teams reached the spot and picked up all vital evidences. In the evening, the investigation was handed over to the crime cell. Police are also questioning the kin of Bokadia’s driver Vinod Dubey, his cook Bhola Singh and domestic help Anand and taking out call details of the deceased.

Vinod Dubey and Bhola Singh hail from Jharkhand’s Giridih district and had been working there for past 12 years while Anand joined Bokadia as helper only a month and ahalf ago.  “Weare questioning several people and probing all possible angles. For now, we are looking for clues,” added a senior police officer.
