Infy pitches for Rohan Murty as VP, awaiting MCA's nod

Tier 1 IT services giant Infosys said on Saturday that the appointment of Rohan Murty, the Harvard-educated son of co-founder and executive chairman N R Narayana Murthy, as vice-president of the company is yet to be approved by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

“His designation in the company will be confirmed once the process of his appointment has been completed,” a Infosys spokesperson said on Saturday in response to reports that the company has been looking to redesignate Rohan Murty as vice-president in a bid to evolve his role further.

The move to flesh out 30-year-old Rohan’s role in the company, is expected to give him a chance to interface with top executives among Infosys’ $50 million plus clientele and assist his father in client-specific decision-making, sources added. Rohan Murty’s entry into the company coincided with his father’s comeback to the helm of Infosys at the age of 65 to revive its sagging fortunes. The company has been struggling to maintain market share in the Americas, where it has key clients in $50-100 million range.

After returning as executive chairman of the company, Murthy has initiated a structural reorganisation within the company’s top ranks with Rohan Murty said to be playing a prominent role in the reorganisation -- aimed at reinstilling faith in Infosys clients on the company’s strategic direction.
