Toyota sales down 6%  in August

Toyota Kirloskar Motor registered total sales of 15,201 units in August 2013 when compared to 16,225 Units in August 2012. Sales declined by 6 per cent. The company exported 3,194 units of the Etios series last month.

The company sold 12,007 units in the domestic market in August 2013 as compared to 13,995 units in August 2012.

Commenting on the sales in August 2013, Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Marketing and Commercial said, “With the rupee depreciation and rising inflation we have increased the prices of Camry Petrol and Fortuner. The prices have been increased by 1 per cent.”

“The market is still sluggish, however we hope to see the market improve with good monsoons and the upcoming festive season,” Singh added.

Last month, Toyota Kirloskar launched the Camry Hybrid, which is India’s first locally manufactured hybrid car.
