Back to the dance floor

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who will groove to a dance number in Subhash Ghai’s upcoming film Kaanchi is thrilled about getting a chance to shake a leg after almost two decades to a solo song.

The 60-year-old actor shimmied with 60 dancers on a set put up for the song choreographed by Ganesh Acharya and composed by Salim-Suleiman. “I am too thrilled to do this solo item dance with Subhash Ghai after so many years and its a fabulous song,” he says.

The director-actor duo has worked in evergreen film Karz.

Second innings for a classic movie

Naseeruddin Shah is popularly known for his choice of films and the roles he essays in different films. The actor’s 1983 release Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron is set for a second inning as the director of the film, Kundan Shah, is planning a sequel to the Naseeruddin Shah-Ravi Baswani-starrer.

Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, a cult comedy, till date remains one of the most iconic films made in Bollywood. While Naseeruddin is already set to reprise his part from the classic, sources say that Irrfan has been signed to replace the late Baswani. Like the original, the sequel is also likely to highlight increasing corruption in India in a satirical manner.
One more film for Evelyn

Evelyn Sharma, who has signed five films last year, has bagged one more. The actress from Nautanki Saala! and the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ will now be seen in David Dhawan’s Main Tera Hero, produced by Ekta Kapoor. Pitted opposite Varun Dhawan, Evelyn will share screen space with Nargis Fakhri and Ileana D’Cruz.

“David sir approached me because he loved my role in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. I feel privileged to be his first choice for the character,” says Evelyn. In fact, Varun Dhawan now has three of Ranbir Kapoor’s hottest girls for himself. That’s no less than a coup of sorts. Time will tell whether this project — with his movie maverick father David Dhawan at the helm of affairs and Ekta Kapoor’s marketing acumen — can make the film a blockbuster hit.

Introduced with a known voice

The word on the grapevine is that the makers of ‘Boss’ have got Amitabh Bachchan to do a voice over in the film and introduce the main character.

Akshay has been a Big B fan for many years now and wanted a build-up for his entry on to the screen.

The makers believed that only Amitabh Bachchan could do justice to such a character and roped him in.

Big B was given a script of the scenes well in advance. And despite his busy schedule, he made it a point to complete the dubbing at the earliest.

He also improvised on the lines, much to the delight of the film-makers.

Says Akshay, “It’s an u and a privilege to have a legend like Amitabh Bachchan introduce my character in ‘Boss’.

I’ve been his biggest fan since childhood and have even had the pleasure of working with him. He is an institution by himself.”

Poonam’s little crush

Poonam Pandey knows how to grab the limelight. She has a love for exposes and she is clearly not apologetic about the fact. Recently, at the premiere of Hollywood film ‘Riddick’, she did just that and more.
While all the stars sashayed the red carpet, Poonam was busy expressing her love for the Hollywood star Vin Diesel. She was all praises when it came to Vin and did not shy away one bit from expressing them. She was heard saying, “Just looking at Vin Diesel is enough. To be honest, there have been times when I have had Vin in my dreams. I think he is very hot.”

Nigaar turns perfectionist

Almost a decade after her show ‘Lipstick,’ Nigaar Khan is back with a meaty role in Zee TV’s new show ‘Buddha – The King of Kings.’  Even though Nigaar has quite the penchant for essaying negative roles on the small screen, this character will be very different from all that she has played earlier.

Nigaar says, “I have been meaning to do something quite off the beaten track for a long time. My character, Mangala, is of a lady who wants to see her son as the king and hence turns out to be evil for the world.”

She adds, “For the first time, I have taken up a historical show, that too as a mother and it takes me a lot of time for me to get dressed for the show.”

Driven to look perfect, Nigaar opted to have her own make-up and hair dresser instead of using the one organised by the production house.

The first look of a gripping tale

The first look of the official trailer of Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Warning’ 3D survival franchise was unveiled recently.  The film marks Sinha’s first stint as a producer. Touted as India’s first 3D underwater film, Anubhav Sinha and director Gurmeett Singh will take the audience through a  journey into the lives of seven friends who do not pay heed to a warning and find themselves stranded in shark-infested seas.

The film is shot with three dimensional cameras.

The film-maker says it was very exciting to make this film as it marks his entry in to the industry as a producer.

He recalls that Gurmeett and he had to work for long hours to get the shots right in the underwater film.

‘Warning’ will see an all new cast — Santosh Barmola, Suzana Rodrigues, Varun Sharma, Manjari Phadnis and Madhurima Tuli.

Under Eros International, Alumbra Entertainment and Benaras Mediaworks banner, the film has been produced by Anubhav Sinha, Parag Sanghavi and Sunil Lulla.
