Bowlers star in Holy Saint win

A solid bowling performance helped Holy Saint English School beat Jain International Residential Scool by eight wickets in a low-scoring tie of the KSCA (under-16) Cup for Division I teams.

After Shivam Singh (4/22) and Shishir HR (3/41) bowled out JIRS for 104 in their first innings, Likhith Mahendra’s valuable 64 lifted HSES to 149 and 45-run innings lead. For JIRS, Sheetal Kumar impressed by taking 6/52. HSES then bundled out JIRS for a paltry 93 in their second essay – leaving them to chase down 49 for victory which they did with minimum fuss.

In the other match between Ebenezer International School and Presidency School, Nandini Layout, Deepak Yadav walked away with match figures of 11-45 and bowled Ebenezer to an innings and22 runs victory.

Batting first, Ebenezer declared at 196/6 in 71.3 overs with half-centuries from Sourabh Jaiswal (64) and Deepak (50 n.o.) before the latter starred with his bowling exploits.

Brief scores: JIRS: 104 all out in 40.5 overs (Pratik Khandelwal 45; Shivam Singh 4-22, Shishir HR 3-41, Likhith Mahendra 2-12) and 93 all out in 43.3 overs (Vatshal 25; Shishir HR 4-20, Shivam Singh 3-32, Likhith Mahendra 3-13) lt to HSES: 149 all out in 65.1 overs (Likhith Mahendra 64, J Yatish 34; Sheetal Kumar 6-52, Vatshal 2-33) and 49/2 in 16.3 overs. HSES: 5 points; JIRS: -1 point.
