Vinay in India 'A' squad

India ‘A’ All-rounder Irfan Pathan and medium pacer Praveen Kumar were on Saturday ruled out of the three one-day matches against West Indies ‘A’ due to unspecified injuries.

They were replaced by Siddharth Kaul and R Vinay Kumar in the squad.

Irfan has been troubled by a hamstring injury since he played a pivotal role in India’s series win over Sri Lanka last year, and though he was a part of India’s Champions Trophy squad the Baroda man didn’t get to play a single game. In that scenario, the latest injury has jeopardised his attempts to return to the India squad.

Praveen, who last played for India well over a year back, also had a disturbing year that saw him getting suspended after a disciplinary breach during the BCCI Corporate Trophy in February this year.

Meanwhile, the selectors have decided to add Kerala opener V Jagadeesh to the India ‘A’ squad for the second and third four-day games against the visitors at Shimoga and Hubli.
