The accused have been identified as Alok Kumar Gupta, 21, and Kapil Kumar, 22, both resident of Narela.

“They were arrested following a tip-off that they were about to come to Ghoga crossing in Narela on Saturday. We laid a trap and nabbed them,” said additional commissioner of police (crime) Ravindra Yadav.

The officer said they got a call at the police control room from Narela on September 8 that a body of a 30-year-old man was found lying in the fields of Narela Industrial Area.

The victim was identified as Dalip Kumar Bhardwaj, a resident of Narela. “The body had multiple stab injuries from some sharp edged weapon, indicating a brutal act and involvement of more than one person,” said Yadav.

A discreet investigation two persons, who were known to the victim, found that they were absconding from houses of their. “They were traced and nabbed on Saturday,” said Yadav.

During interrogation, an accused Alok said that Dalip had a girlfriend and he was also interested in the same girl. Alok also approached the girl several times. When Dalip came to know of this, a rift developed between them over this issue.

Late on the night of September 8, Alok took Kapil into confidence and planned a murder. They called Dalip for a party on Maiwala Road near Kattha factory.

While the party was in progress Alok deliberately started abusing Dalip on the girlfriend issue.

Soon, the exchange turned into a fight and as planned, Alok brutally attacked Dalip and killed him.
