Students spruce up KR Market

Finally, it took 500 students from Acharaya Pathashala (APS) to turn the City’s KR Market into one spic and span spot making it habitable for conducting business free from garbage and stench.

The students, as part of their social service activity, formed 25 teams, each comprising score of students, to undertake the Herculean spring cleaning the market so deservedly needed and awaited.

Assisting the students in their laudable initiative at hand were 20 trucks, 60 auto tippers and 150 pourakarmikas.

Gloved they took the broom and spade zealously to tidy up the market, turning it into a soothing and beauteous sight for sore eyes.

Lauding the students’ cleanliness drive, a proud APS Group of Institutions chairperson T V Maruthi said students of his education institutions were always at the forefront of taking up several social service initiatives which brought laurels to the institution as also earn them the goodwill of those who benefitted from their benign gesture.

He, further assured the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike all assistance to bring back beauty to KR Market and make it much more healthy and conducive place for conducting business by all.

The ‘Monday Clean Market Drive,’ which was flagged off by district in charge Minister Ramalinga Reddy saw Mayor B S Sathyanarayana, Deputy Mayor Indira and Bangalore South Member of Parliament Ananth Kumar, among others, wielding the broom along with the students.
