Divas in item numbers

Once upon a time in Hindi films, the heroine stood smiling coyly in a corner and the bad girl gyrated away at cabarets in teeny-weenies.

Cut to present— the leading ladies are also the item-number champs, and the coming months
will see more of them in such bold tracks than ever before.

Top actors such as Priyanka Chopra, who was last seen grooving to Babli Badmaash Hai from the movie ‘Shootout at Wadala’ and Katrina Kaif, who won hearts with Chikni Chameli and Sheila Ki Jawani have signed item numbers.

Apart from them, Dabangg girl Sonakshi Sinha, who has shied away from doing meaty
roles and scripts that demanded her to show skin, too will be seen shaking a leg for an item number in the coming months.

   Adding to this list is Nargis Fakhri of ‘Rockstar’ fame. Though she was seen in a serious role in her last release ‘Madras Cafe,’ she will share screen with Shahid Kapoor in an item
song called Dhating Naach in his upcoming movie Phata Poster Nikla Hero. The movie is slated today.

Worried about his father’s weight

Actor Varun Dhawan, who is known for his fit figure and flaunted it to the utmost in his debut film, ‘Student of the Year’, admits that he has a dream — the actor wants his actor-film-maker father, David Dhawan, to lose weight.

   He admits that although he is particular about staying in shape, he hasn’t been able to convince his father to do the same.

Varun says, “One thing that I have not been able to do so far is to make my dad lose weight.”He goes on to add that he’s been trying to do this for years, but is yet to make an impact on his father.

“I have tried hard since childhood and that is still in continuation,” he explains.
   He is keen to show a fitness DVD to his father, but the actor also admits that he
isn’t sure whether he will follow it.

“My mother is definitely on my side. I could show him a DVD for five minutes. But when I tell him that this is for his weight loss, he might walk away,” he adds.

   The one-film old actor is known to be a fitness freak. According to sources, Varun hits the gym regularly and ensures to work out for at least one-and-a-half hours everyday.
