Too powerful for the age

Watch ‘Son of the Mask’ on WB at 12.48 pm on September 23. Aspiring cartoonist Tim Avery feels inadequate about being a father when he finds out that his newborn son has some supernatural abilities.

The baby has the powers of the ‘Mask of Loki’, a mythological object that transforms its user into a manic, shape-shifter alter ego. As bad as a baby with godlike powers might seem, the really bad news is that Loki wants his mask back. Watch the hilarious turn of events. The movie stars Jamie Kennedy, Alan Cumming, Traylor Howard, Steven Wright and Kal Penn. 

A risky job

Tune in to ‘Shooter’ on Sony Pix at 3.28 pm on September 23. Ace shooter Bob Lee Swagger lives by himself after he accidentally kills innocent people.

Now, he is assigned the task of helping Colonel Isaac Johnson find a way to protect the US president who might be assassinated in the next two weeks. Despite doing his best, Bob finds that a shot is fired at the president. Worse is yet to come— Bob is the
fall guy and is hunted by thousands.

Can he prove his innocence? The star cast includes Mark Wahlberg, Danny Glover, Ned Beatty, Michael Pena and Kate Mara.

In an alien universe

Catch ‘Prometheus’ on Star Movies at 12.11 pm on September 23. Set in the year 2093, the film takes place in an ‘Alien’ universe.

A group of explorers, including some archaeologists, are on an ‘undisclosed’ mission. They arrive at a planet millions of miles away from the Earth. On reaching there, the team spots what they believe are the signs of civilisation.

They start an investigation and find more than just signs; they find some conclusive evidence. But some of them have an ulterior motive for being there. They believe that this is where the human race originated from. Soon, things turn from excitement to survival once the discovery begins.

The film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Guy Pearce.

Making a new living

Watch ‘A Home of Our Own’ on MGM Channel at 5.30 pm on September 23. A single mother leaves Los Angeles with her six children and moves in to another city. She buys a broken-down house without a roof, doors or windows.

Weathering natural disasters and personal conflict, the family tries to rebuild the house and their lives in the process.

The movie stars Kathy Bates, Edward Furlong, Soon-Tek Oh, Tony Campisi and Clarissa Lassig.

Back to school

HBO airs ‘School of Rock’ at 11.10 am on September 23. In the film, Dewey Finn is fired from his rock band and his life turns upside down. His debts increase and he sinks into depression.

To come out of this phase, Dewey takes up a job as a substitute teacher at an upscale private school. He makes a strong impression on the students. He meets 10-year-old Zack, who is excellent at playing the guitar. Will Zack be able to help Dewey win the ‘battle of the bands’ competition?
