Redo dist judges' seniority list: HC

The High Court on Friday set aside the seniority list of district judges prepared by the registrar general of the High Court in 2012 in connection with a petition challenging it by some of the direct-recruit judges.

Hearing a petition by Mysore’s Additional District judge Rudramuni and others, Justice Dileep Bhosale set aside the list of about 80 judges prepared by the registrar general with a direction to redo the list and observed, “The services of the promotees cannot be considered from 2003 as they were appointed only on adhoc basis.”

The petitioners who were directly recruited in 2008 had filed the petition stating that the respondents were appointed as additional judges in 2003 and were promoted in 2009.

They contended that the registrar general had considered their service since 2003 and has placed them above them which is arbitrary.
