MBA student held for rape in Mangalore

An MBA student was on Tuesday taken into custody for allegedly raping a minor girl under the Mangalore rural police limits.

Vikesh, in his 20s, was taken into custody based on a complaint filed by a 13-year-old girl and her mother. He lives at B C Road and is a close relative of the girl.

The complaint filed on Tuesday alleged that Vikesh and another relative, Praveen, had been raping the girl since May last year. They took advantage of the family ties and also threatened her. It is learnt that after raping her, the duo would force the girl to take some tablets. Once she fell sick after consuming the tablets. It was then that her mother grew suspicious and questioned her.

The police said families of the main accused and the victim were locked in a civil dispute case. They are probing into this aspect as well. Praveen is absconding. A search has been launched to trace him.
