IIM-A Fellow programme

IIM Ahmedabad is offering Fellow programme in management for 2014.
Last date for the submission of application form is 30 Jan 2014.

Application form and brochure will be available in official website of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Candidates can fill-up the application form online, and an application fee can be paid through IIMA gate way.

Eligibility: Candidates should have a Master’s degree in any discipline, with at least 55 percent marks (high second class) and at least 50% marks at Bachelor’s degree level or a bachelor’s degree with complete professional qualifications like CA, ICWA, CS with at least 55 percent marks or a  BE/ BTech/ BArchitecture/ MBBS Degree with at least 60 percent marks.

The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is the doctoral programme of IIMA. FPM admits students who have a strong academic background, are highly motivated and who have the intellectual curiosity to undertake original research.

The doctoral programme prepares students for a career in academia or research positions in industry.

PGP at IIM, Kozhikode

Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode has invited applications for Post Graduate Programme (PGP).

The candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks.

IIM may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website www.cat2013.iimidr.ac.in.

Scholarships to Indian orphanage

Napier University has awarded more than £20,000 to an Indian orphanage. The money, donated by Professor George Stonehouse, Dean of the University’s Business School and Indian-born businesswoman Vin Murria, was given to St Mary’s Day School and Orphanage, Kolkata at the University’s Indian graduation ceremony.

It is the second time the University has made such a donation – last year the funding allowed St Mary’s students Cain Gomes and Asif Ahmed to study BA Hospitality Management in Edinburgh.

This time round, the funding is to be used either to provide similar places for two other St. Mary’s students or to support Cain and Asif through their 4th, honours year at the University.

PhD in music and fine arts

Karnatak University has decided to offer facilities to the candidates to pursue PhD in music and fine arts.

A decision to this effect was taken at Academic council meeting, KUD, recently. Accordingly the PhD programmes in drawing and painting will start from the academic year 2013-14.

As there are no research guides available at KU, the university will arrange for the guides or co-guides from other universities or institutes.

CTET for session 2014

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has entrusted the responsibility  of conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The CBSE is set to conduct Central Teachers Eligibility Entrance Test (CTET) for the session 2014 on 16 February.

CTET entrance test is conducted for appointment of teachers for class 1 to 8 in CBSE affiliated schools across the country.The CTET shall apply to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Tibetan Schools, etc) and schools under the administrative control of UT of Chandigarh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Daman &Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveliand NCT of Delhi.

CTET may also apply to the unaided private schools, who may exercise the option of considering the CTET. Schools owned and managed by the State Government/ local bodies and aided schools shall consider the TET conducted by the State Government.

Professional accountancy course

The Ness Wadia College of Commerce and the Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce have tied up with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for a professional course in accountancy, which will be internationally recognised and will be equivalent to a master’s degree in the United Kingdom. The course will be optional for students of these colleges. Finishing the course will qualify them as complete finance professionals.

Talent reward exam

The various courses offered in schools of JNU are: International Studies, Social Sciences, Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Arts and Aesthetics, computational and Integrative Sciences, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Centre for the Study of Law and Governance, Centre for Sanskrit Studies.

PGDM-Finance 2014

The Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management is conducting a  full time two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (2 Year – Full Time).

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks. All candidates seeking admission to LBSIM will be required to appear in the Common Admission Test (CAT) to be conducted by IIMs between October16 and November 11, 2013.

Southampton University’s MOOC

The University of Southampton launched its first Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), which will enable anyone to study online, for free, wherever they are in the world. A MOOC is a free study programme which is designed to be studied online by large number of participants.

To take part in a MOOC, no previous experience is required, there is no admission interview and no need to have ever studied online or even in higher education.
