Sand transporters' meet today

Addressing a press meet here on Thursday, President Mayur Ullal said a meeting of all those who are connected with sand transportation will be held at Hotel Woodlands on November 16 at 4 pm.

Advisor B S Chandru said the authorities need to simplify the rules for the transportation of sand within the State. Delay in issuing permit for the transportation of sand, reducing the harassment by the police department should be rectified.

The present royalty system must be changed to monthly payment system. To check the inter-state sand transportation, police are stopping the sand lorries at Thokkottu instead at the border (Talapady). This is causing inconvenience to those who have permit for sand transportation within State.
