The domestic help rescued from south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj has alleged that she was made to drink urine and forced to sleep inside toilets by her employer.

The teenager’s statement was recorded before a magistrate under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure on Friday. Her mother also arrived in the Capital from Jharkhand’s Sahebganj district. The woman, according to police, has told them that her daughter was hit with hot pans, a dog chain and knives over the year that she spent working as Vandana Dhir’s domestic help.

“My daughter told me that she was made to drink her employer’s urine, and was forced to eat her meals and sleep in the toilet,” the domestic help’s mother told police after meeting her at Safdarjung Hospital.

Doctors at Safdarjung Hospital said her condition is improving.

Vandana was arrested after the girl’s statement was recorded on Tuesday by officers of Vasant Kunj (north) police station. Vandana worked with a Noida-based company as country communications director, India.

Later, a court told police to have the teen’s statement recorded in hospital in the presence of a magistrate. The girl was rescued from Vandana’s house by police, and members of the Delhi Commission for Women, Shakti Vahini and Sai Sewa Kripa Samiti on Monday.

She has already claimed that Vandana never agreed to her wish of returning to her native place. She said that whenever she raised the issue, she was confined to a room. “To stop me from running away, Vandana never gave me proper clothes to wear at home,” she told police.

The owner of a domestic help agency, through whom the girl was placed, was arrested on Thursday. Vandana had employed the girl through Dorothy Placement Service in South Extension. Police said that Dorothy took Rs 20,000 as commission from Vandana.
