Top BJP leaders in the State are scheduled to meet in Bangalore on Monday ahead of the State core committee meeting in the presence of party national president Rajnath Singh in  Mumbai on October 8.

Finalising the dates for party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s visit to the State and the re-entry of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa are top on the agenda of the two meetings.

Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu will be in Bangalore on Monday to attend the Bangalore leg of the meeting.

All the BJP top brass including State president Pralhad Joshi, former chief ministers D V Sadananda Gowda, Jagadish Shettar and party national general secretary Ananth Kumar will leave for Mumbai for a special core committee of the State unit to be held in the presence of Singh the next day.

Besides Karnataka, the core committee meetings of the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa will also be held in Mumbai, party sources said.

Singh, along with State leaders, is likely to discuss with Modi, who will be in Mumbai, to finalise the dates for his visit to Karnataka.

The State unit is planning a mammoth rally on the outskirts of Bangalore that will be addressed by Modi.

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Sadananda Gowda said the re-entry of Yeddyurappa to the BJP will be discussed at the core committee meeting.

State unit leaders have stated that they have no objection to Yeddyurappa’s entry and the party parliamentary board needs to take a final call.

While Yeddyurappa is keen on merging the KJP with the BJP, several of his party colleagues including Shobha Karandlaje, Dhananjay Kumar, B R Patil and Gurupadappa Nagamarapali are opposed to the move, KJP insiders said.
