JOIN USExternal Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid will ask Tamil National Alliance leader and Chief Minister-elect of Sri Lanka’s Northern Province, C V Wigneswaran, to engage with President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s government constructively to meet urgent needs of people, who have just come out of a long-drawn conflict.The meeting is likely to happen in Jaffna, the capital of Northern Province, on Tuesday.
The external affairs minister will leave for a two-day visit to Sri Lanka on Monday.
Khurshid will call upon Rajapaksa and meet his counterpart G L Peiris to review the bilateral relation.
Khurshid is going to be the first high-profile visit from New Delhi to the Northern Province, which has recently witnessed a historic election after a gap of 25 years.
