Watch ‘What a Girl Wants’ on HBO at 8.38 am. Daphne, an American teenager, raised by her pen-mined mother goes to England to establish a relationship with her father.

He turns out to be a prominent political figure involved in social customs. Daphne must attempt to fit in with the social requirements demanded of her, while also getting to know her father, dealing with his territorial other daughter and maintaining her own self-identity. The film stars Amanda Bynes, Colin Firth, Kelly Preston, Eileen Atkins and Anna Chancellor.

In search of real answers

Sony Pix airs ‘Wild Things’ at 11 pm on ctober 11.   When high school guidance counsellor Sam Lombardo is accused of rape by the rich Kelly an Ryan and social outsider Suzie Toller, it appears to be an open-and-shut case.

But as he digs further, detective Ray Duquette discovers a scandal that has wrapped virtually everyone in the locality.

Beneath the sheen of high society and police propriety lies a bizarre labyrinth of truth and illusion, with the real answers known only when the film reaches the climax.

The film stars Matt Dillon, Kevin Bacon, Neve Campbell, Theresa Russell, Denise Richards, Robert Wagner and Bill Murray.

A way to get out safe

 In Mongolia, the test well of an oil field is shutdown by company headquarters in
Atlanta.

 A plane piloted by Captain Frank Towns is sent to bring the workers home. While flying over a storm, the plane crashes in a Mongolian desert.  When they realise that they will not be rescued, they decide to build a new plane from the wreckage of the old one.

 The movie stars Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, Giovanni Ribisi, Miranda Otto and Tony Curran. 

A strange turn of events

Catch ‘Underworld’ on WB at 4.54 pm on October 11. Vampires and werewolves have been sworn enemies for many centuries. Now, fought in a gothic-like setting, the conflict takes an unexpected turn.  Selene, a beautiful vampire warrior, uncovers a plot by the werewolves that could prove fatal for her entire race.

She hides a human, Michael, who is a supposed target of the werewolves. Although she finds herself becoming attracted to him, he becomes infected with a disease. Both the sides must decide how to end the conflict and save their species as new and terrifying secrets unearth themselves and threaten their entire existence.

The movie stars Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman and Michael Sheen.

Disturbed by addiction

Watch ‘Gridlock’d’ on Zee Studio at 10.30 pm on October 11. Three friends — Spoon, his lover Cookie and Stretch –– are drug addicts. One day, Cookie is hospitalised when she takes an overdose of drugs.

As she lies in coma, Spoon and Stretch realise it is high time they quit drugs or their lives are going to be miserable.

They decide to get rid of the drug abuse once and for all. They enrol in a government detox programme for drug abusers.

But their attempt to go clean is hampered by the police. Spoon and Stretch spend one long day filling out forms, racing from one social service centre to the next, taking blood tests and waiting in lines, all the while being chased by the police and drug dealers!
