Vijay, Ojha released for Ranji duties

Reserve opener Murali Vijay and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha left Ahmedabad on Monday morning to join Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad respectively ahead of the third set of Super League matches beginning on Tuesday. Tamil Nadu take on Punjab in Amritsar while Hyderabad run into Gujarat on their home patch, and both sides will welcome the addition of their key players as they seek crucial points early in the season.

Not just the teams, but the players themselves will benefit from turning out in matches instead of merely sitting in the dressing room, ferrying drinks and having the occasional leisurely net session. After all, there is no substitute for match practice.

Having missed a trick during the one-day series against Australia when they carried leggie Amit Mishra and medium-pacer Sudeep Tyagi during the seven matches without either of them getting a game, the Board finally appears to have wisened up.
