No merger with BJP, only alliance: BSY

Former chief minister and KJP chief B S Yeddyurappa on Tuesday exuded confidence that his party would win 10 seats in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the BJP.

Addressing presspersons here, he ruled out the KJP’s merger with the BJP and said that the KJP would retain its identity. He said that in the coming days, he would tour each district for two days to strengthen the party. He said the Election Commission of India has turned down the KJP’s request to grant it the symbol of its choice.

Coming down heavily on the State government, he said the Siddaramaiah-led dispensation was in a state of coma and not responding to the problems of the people.
Programmes initiated by the previous BJP government as well as those announced by the Congress government were progressing at a snail’s pace. Although there was money in the treasury, the government is not releasing funds for development works, he alleged.

The former chief minister pointed out that while several parts of the State were reeling under drought, farmers had suffered huge crop losses from rain fury in other parts. Arecanut growers are in distress due to rot disease affecting the crops. “Development works have taken a backseat due to infighting in the Congress,” he claimed.

On corruption

Yeddyurappa said he would discuss all these issues in a threadbare fashion during the winter session of the Legislature scheduled to be held in Belgaum shortly. He alleged that  Siddaramaiah had shut his ears to the complaints of corruption in his government.

“Governor H R  Bhardwaj has openly criticised the functioning of the Congress government which is mired in corruption and is neglecting development works. Even the Lokayukta has spoken about corruption in the government,” he said.

Addressing a rally of the KJP workers in Chitradugra, Yeddyurappa said that infighting in the State unit of the Congress has intensified and Siddaramaiah will not continue in the chief minister’s post after the Lok Sabha elections.
