'Shahid has done a great job'

Actor-turned-director Prabhu Deva has proved that not only does he revel in doing his moves in front of the camera but also thrives directing the moves behind it. After making his debut in Bollywood with ‘Wanted’, he quickly followed it up with a few more projects like ‘Rowdy Rathore’, Ramaiya Vastavaiya, ‘ABCD’ and now he is all set for the release of Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘R...Rajkumar’.

What instantly grabs your attention about these projects are their titles. These are not only catchy but certainly leave you a little curious to know more about the character and the storyline. Prabhu Deva has also managed to smuggle in the dancing style and body language of South Indian cinema into Bollywood and that seems to have worked well with the audience. “The title is the most important thing because that’s the first thing which brings people to watch the movie. There’s a lot of thought that goes into the title of every project,” Prabhu tells Metrolife even as he is busy with the promotions for ‘R... Rajkumar’.

Talking about ‘R...Rajkumar’ and why he picked up Shahid to play the lead role, Prabhu says,“Shahid sports a very rugged and unkempt look in the film. He has grown a moustache and appears in a mature form. The role required him to change his looks to a rough form and that has worked well for him. Shahid has done a great job,” states Prabhu.

Sonakshi Sinha plays the female lead and her role is that of a rowdy in the film and has attempted a few fight sequences for the first time. “Sonakshi has several stunts. She hails from a small town where the women are gutsy and taught to be bold. Sonakshi stands out for her flawless action on screen but more than that the chemistry between Shahid and Sonakshi has worked out pretty well,” shares Prabhu, who can’t wait for the movie to release.

Despite his rather tight schedule, Prabhu doesn’t forget his friends. He went out of his way to shake a leg with Akshay Kumar for a song in ‘Boss’. “It’s always a pleasure to get back with old friends and dance. The experience was overwhelming.”

Looks like Prabhu is  unstoppable, for he has already begun work on his next project titled
‘Action Jackson’ with Ajay Devgan.
