Plans afoot to ply more city buses

A fleet of 35 city buses and 50 rural buses will be flagged off by December-end, and 24 bus depots at a cost of Rs six crore each will be opened across the State.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, said that the department will ply buses in certain regions where private buses operate in large number. The move is expected to check the domination of private operators in these regions.

The minister said process of recruitment to vacancies in regional transport offices (RTOs) will begin soon after the court disposes of a case alleging loopholes in the recruitment process.
