The deputy-leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj who mediated between the Reddy brothers and the beleaguered Chief Minister has not been assigned any role in the committee. Swaraj, known to be close to the Reddy brothers, was earlier tipped to head the committee.

State BJP president D V Sadanand Gowda is at the head  of the panel, which consists of 14 senior BJP leaders. The committee has a mix of  anti and pro-Yeddyurappa factions.
Satish and Santosh, the two RSS pointsmen, are special invitees to the committee. “The Chief Minister has a slight  edge over his rivals in the the committee,” said a senior central BJP leader requesting anonymity.

The members of the co-ordination committee include Yeddyurappa, D V Sadanand  Gowda, Ananth Kumar, V S Acharya, Jagadish Shettar, K S Eswarappa, Karunakara Reddy, R Ashok, Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri, Suresh Kumar, Katta Subramanyam Naidu and Bassoraj Bommai.

The week-long political crisis that paralysed the BJP government in Karnataka blew over on November 8 following a compromise between the Reddy brothers and the Chief Minister.
Under the compromise formula, the chief minister sacked his favourite minister Shoba Karandlaje and inducted Speaker Jagadish Shettar into the cabinet.

It was then agreed that a coordination committee would be re-constituted which would work as “an oversight body” for smooth functioning of the government.
