After Kukushkin had taken the opening set 4-6, Gasquet rallied back to take the next two with identical scorelines to win the summit clash.
The win puts Gasquet in with a chance of reaching the season ending ATP Tour Final in London.
Romania’s Simona Halep continued her winning ways by dispatching Australian Samantha Stosur 7-6, 6-2 to win the WTA Kremlin Cup on Sunday.
Halep, coming into the tournament on the back of four WTA titles since June this year, outrallied the Australian to eventually win the contest in a hour and 41 minutes.
Caroline Wozniacki lifted the Luxembourg Open on Sunday by beating Germany’s Annika Beck in straight sets.
After Wozniacki beat another German Sabine Lisicki to reach the final, she bested Beck 6-2, 6-2.
