Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, BJP which was an alternate for Congress even at the State-level, has now lost its power.

“Though BJP is in power at the State, there is a coalition government in true sense. Reddy brothers faction, CM’s faction and a faction neutral members are running the governance. This coalition is causing problems in day to day affairs of the State,” said Shankar and added that CM has become helpless and this is evident by the tears that he shed on television. “The downfall of BJP government in the State has already begun,” he said.

Membership drive

“Congress party is on the verge of transformation. It is going to be party based on party workers. Party has started membership drive across the State and will soon hold organisational elections too,” said Shankar.

The Congress will give 33 per cent reservation in membership for women, followed by 20 per cent reservation for backward community and minorities. He said that members list will be prepared by December end and then booth, block, district unit, state and national-level elections will be held.

“Every Assembly constituency has been divided into two blocks to fortify the organisation.  We have set a target of making 50 members per booth. There are 46,666 booths in the State,” he said and added that there is a target of enrolling 33.36 lakh members in total.

Janandolan

He said that Congress party will stage a ‘Janandolan’ in the State if at all the prevailing negligent attitude towards flood victims, if officials are treated as punching bags for confusions prevailing in the government and if government continues to genuflect to the illegal demands of private companies.
