District Private Bus Owners’ Association has decided to file contempt of court cases against all those KSRTC buses which ply without possessing valid permits in the district.

Speaking at an annual meeting of District Private Bus Owners Assciation here on Tuesday, the members said that barring Kushalnagar-Madikeri-Sampaje route, all the private and KSRTC buses which ply on other routes should mandatorily obtain permits, as per 2011 order.

“Inspite of it the KSRTC buses are engaged in unhealthy competition with the private buses. They have been plying on roads without obtaining permits, which would amount to contempt of court,” said the owners.

“We have already submitted a petition to the DC, SP and RTO in this regard and have urged to initiate action within 15 days. If the authorities fail to take any action, then we will file contempt of court case in the court,” said Association President Hosoor Ramesh Joyappa.
He said the bus drivers and conductors will have to follow traffic rules. The concession given for handicapped should be provided to the concerned.

“With the plying of KSRTC buses without permits, we are losing income,” said a few members.

Joyappa also raised the issue of concession bus services for tourists during 80th All India Kannada literary meet in Madikeri.

The association also dibursed financial assistance to meritorious students on the occasion.
Vice President A G Bopanna, secretary B T Poonacha, and others were present.
