One injured in bear attack in Arsikere

A person was severely injured in a bear attack in Byadarahalli, near Gollarahatti, in the taluk on Tuesday night. The injured has been identified as Rama Bhovi, resident of Vaddarahatti, Byadarahalli, Banavara hobli.

It is said that Rama who ekes out a living as a labourer was on his way back home from Gollarahatti after finishing his work, when the bear, which was hiding in a bush pounced and attacked him, causing severe injuries on his face, eyes, ears and shoulder.

Shocked over the attack, Rama screamed for help. Hearing his screams, villagers rushed to his help and making noises by shouting, driving the bear away.

He was immediately shifted to government Jayachamarajendra hospital in Arsikere for treatment. Banavara police have registered a case.
