Indo-European SME fair opens in France

 "The mega event will lead to the development of a political vision to help small and medium enterprises from Europe and India," Moselle Senator Philippe Leroy said after inaugurating the event.

Nearly, 700 European and Indian companies in the automotive, aerospace, rail, truck/bus, ship-building and transport and logistics sectors are participating in the event at Metz, the capital of Moselle province of France.

That apart, as many as 900 participants from 10 European countries including France, Germany, Luxembourg, Britain, Italy, Spain and Belgium among others are participating in the event.

A 100-member Indian business delegation is a part of the event, which aims to double the bilateral trade between the two regions in the next five years.

The EITS aims at exploring business opportunities in Europe and India of about 30 billion euro in the aerospace sector to augment the aviation infrastructure in the two regions.

Indian ambassador to France Ranjan Mathai said transport logistics is vital to the growth of any nation and the ongoing event would be beneficial to both the regions.

"We are targeting Indian infrastructures to set up their units here, as Moselle, which is strategically located at the junction of France, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium, can be an ideal investment destination for them," Moselle Development Director for India Thierry Petry said.

The EITS has been organised by the Moselle Development Economic Development Agency.
