Scientists at the Swedish Institute for Social Research in Stockholm, which conducted the study into the relationship of over 1.5 million men and women, discovered that long life and good health have nothing to do with a man’s education and everything to do with his wife’s.

The study, which was based on the 1990 census data of men and women aged 30 to 59, found that men who marry smart women live longer — simple, The Times online reported on Thursday.

The scientists compared the information to cause of death records for the next 12 years.
What researchers found was that people with a lower education had a higher mortality rate.

However, it was also discovered that the education of a man’s partner seemed to be more important to his survival than his own education. Men who were married to women without a high school degree were 1.25 times more likely to die than men who were married to college graduates, the study found.
