Step inside the international pavilion at India International Trade Fair and on the first floor, you would find girls congregating around a few brightly lit-up stalls.

The attendants manning the desks neck-deep in work have hardly any time to respond to our queries as they attend the horde of people flocking to their stall to purchase some snazzy hairbands and brooches. Metrolife manages to speak to the attendants at the Thailand corner to bring you an idea about the variety at display.

Adorning a netted-turquoise band, Suzanne and her colleagues make for a beguiling sight for the visitors at Thailand’s corner in the international pavilion. Speaking about her headgear, Naomi says, “There’s a huge craze for such colourful and interestingly patterned bands and brooches in Bangkok. This year, the colours that dominate our collection are blue, pink, grey and red.” In her stall, there are at least four to five girls wearing a variety of bands; our favourites were the ones decked up with peacock feathers as danglers in their hair along with flowery bands atop. Their range included feathered, netted, pearls and stone crusted, and flowery bands. To give you an idea about the cost, their bow-shaped bands are priced at Rs 600 and the simple pearl one’s at Rs 300. Honestly, those come across as international prices for things that could be made available for a way lesser amount.

The other stall is full of knitted bands made out of wool. On request, Naomi sportingly dons a woollen band to show us how it could be used. She says,”You can wear these woollen bands either the way you simply wear a band, tucking it under your hair or the Taylor Swift’s way of putting it atop your hair. Both these styles are equally fashionable.” Naomi’s personal favourite is an unembellished red-woollen band with a knitted flower
on it.

Going by the fashionable appeal of the attendants at these stalls, one cannot stop going in their direction. Pay a visit at the international pavilion and check these out on your own. If you have a creative bent of mind, you might just get some ideas as to how to design your own hairbands the coming season.
