Man dies as ambulance reaches late to spot in Udupi

The deceased has been identified as Kamalaksh Achar of Padubidri.

It was said that he collapsed while walking in the bus stand. Though a newspaper agent dialed 108 immediately and waited for the ambulance to arrive the spot, it took more than one hour to reach the spot.

However, later a medical student urged the family members to take the patient to the hospital immediately. The doctors in the hospital declared him ‘brought dead’.

The ambulance reached the spot at 1.10 pm which enraged the public and took the health department to task by staging a protest. The protestors have demanded the police to file an FIR in this regard.

However, DHO Dr Ramachandra Bayari could not be contacted as his mobile was switched off.
