Two Naxal aides killed in police firing

The incident occurred when nearly three hundred members of the organisation, including a few women, were participating in a demonstration in front of the local police station protesting the CRPF deployment in the area.

Narayanpatna Block has been witnessing violent agitation by the Sangha over land rights of the local tribals since the last few months. Officials said police opened fire in self-defence when nearly three hundred members of the organisation made an attempt to attack the police station to loot weapons, including an AK-47 and an SLR.

Section 144 of the CrPC has been clamped in the area. Besides, all the police stations in the district have been directed to remain on high alert.
