Drama festival doubtful this year

The national festival is usually held in the last week of December and the preparations would begin almost one month in advance.
However, this year no decision has been taken on holding the prestigious event for drama troupes from across the country.

Rangayana has been embroiled in a controversy with artistes and former director B Jayashree having major differences of opinion.
Finally, Jayashree put in her papers and the government has appointed an in-charge director.

Also, the government’s decision to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsva on a low key in the wake of floods in the northern parts of the State, has put paid to the hopes of artistes that the government might fund the annual event.
