Seema, a small-time financier, was found dead in a pool of blood in her bedroom. She was alone at home when the murder took place some time between 10 am and 10:30 am.

Police believe the killer was known to Seema and it looked like a murder for revenge or personal enmity. It is also learnt that many neighbours had pledged gold and other valuables with Seema.
Seema’s husband Arvind Jain, a cloth merchant from Rajasthan, came to Bangalore in 1994, and runs a shop on Ramachandrapura Main Road. He had gone to his shop while their children were at school. Her brother Hitesh, a nursing student, was also away when the incident took place.

Hitesh returned at 11.30 am and was shocked to see the front door of the house open. Seema’s bedroom was locked from outside and Hitesh thought his sister had gone out.
Arvind returned at 1 pm for lunch to find only Hitesh and asked him about Seema’s whereabouts. Both of them waited for an hour before Arvind grew suspicious and peeped into the bedroom window, only to see his wife lying dead. Arvind then alerted the jurisdictional police.

The couple was married for five years and differences in financial matters might have caused the death, police said.
Interestingly, the bedroom window faces the road and neighbours were not aware of the incident till the police turned up at the spot.
Seema’s body bore at least 29 stab wounds; her palm, abdomen and chest were slashed. There was no sign of forced entry into the house nor were any valuables missing, an indication that the killer was known to the victim. The body was shifted to M S Ramaiah Hospital for post mortem.

The police are trying to ascertain if Seema was close to any person. A senior officer said the case resembled the C K Achukatu murder in which Hemalatha was brutally killed at her Anjaneyanagar residence on August 11, 2009, by Nuthan Kumar (21), a final year computer engineering student of BMS Engineering College in Basavanagudi.
Seema’s family had shifted their residence to 4th ‘N’ Block, 59th ‘B’ Cross at Rajajinagar just a month ago. The police have questioned five persons, including her relatives and friends.
Three teams have been formed to crack the case.
