Omar challenges Modi

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday challenged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to fix the time, date and venue to discuss the efficacy and essentiality of Article 370 of the Constitution that gives special status to the state.

At a rally in Jammu on Sunday, Modi said at least a discussion should be held to assert whether Article 370 is benefiting the people of the state or not. Expressing surprise, Omar said: “We are ready to talk to anyone on the subject even if you select Ahmedabad in Gujarat as a venue for the same. Many people in India who have held and are holding high offices are equally ignorant about the nature, importance and essentiality of Article 370.”
