Ranganath alias Ganeshanagudi Ranga, 25, a rowdy, suffered serious injuries when rival gang members attacked him with lethal weapons late Thursday night at Yemmalur, in HAL area.

He was rushed to a private hospital where he is stated to be critical, having sustained injuries on his legs, hands, back and neck, according to the police.

Rivalry and disputes regarding real estate business have been cited as reasons for the attack, by the police who have formed two teams to arrest the suspects.

Ranga, a rowdy-sheeter with Nelamangala police, is allegedly involved in murders, attempts to murder, dacoity and other cases.

A close aide of notorious rowdy Bettanagere Shankar, Ranga had ventured into real estate business in the recent past.

He had a dispute over the construction of a food court at Yemmalur. He had lent Rs five lakh to Kumar and was demanding repayment at the earliest.

Ranga had stationed an earthmover at Yemmalur two days ago. He went there along with his two friends Shantha Kumar and Guru late Thursday night, said the police.

He was discussing a point with them when four persons, armed with lethal weapons, arrived on two bikes, threw chilli powder into Ranga’s eyes, attacked him and fled the spot, the police said.
