'I'm not under any sort of pressure'

His boy-next-door looks may have worked for him in the past. But actor Shahid Kapoor is raring to explore more and break all norms. In Bangalore to promote his latest film ‘R... Rajkumar’ along with director Prabhu Deva, Shahid wooed the audience with his slick moves.

Ask him about the experience of working with Prabhu Deva and he can’t stop raving about his director. “I had been told that working under Prabhu Deva is not going to be easy and it has been very exhausting and trying for me indeed. In fact, after you dance with him, you should take a break,” he says with a smile.

Known for his romantic roles and effortless dance moves, taking up a script which involved action was a challenge for Shahid. But the young star says it was a very spontaneous decision.

“This is my first action film and I am not nervous. I am really excited to see how the audience will react to this new hat that I have donned. I don’t think I am intimidated or under any sort of pressure. The moment I entered the sets, Prabhu sir made me feel very comfortable. I did not feel out of place at all. The atmosphere on the sets was very easy and Prabhu sir knew exactly what he wanted from me and that made things easier. Dancing with him was an amazing experience. He has taught me a lot,” he says.

According to Shahid, moving into a different genre of cinema can be quite challenging and he had to adapt to this change. “For the first few weeks, I felt I was in a different zone and had to change everything about me. It took me a few days to get used to the new atmosphere and it was quite an experience,”

He will be seen opposite Sonakshi Sinha in the film and says she was quite easy to work with. “We started the shoot with a song and as both of us love dancing, we began on a good note. As a co-star, she is very natural and spontaneous. I really enjoyed working with her and the audience can see our camaraderie on screen,” he notes.

All praises for the local cuisine of Bangalore, he informs that he loves the dosas and idlis in this part of the country.

“It’s always great to come down to Bangalore and I have loved it every time. The food is great and I have sampled almost everything this City has to offer,” he sums up.
For now, Shahid is all set for the release of his upcoming film and hopes that the audience likes him in this new avatar.
