Veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani Wednesday evaded giving his party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi credit for the good showing by the BJP in the recently concluded assembly elections, and lauded chief ministers instead.

Asked about Modi's role in the party's victory in recent state elections, Advani said: "It is a contribution of all party members, particularly chief ministers".

He was talking to reporters in Parliament House complex.

"Raman Singh and Shivraj Singh (Chouhan) have been doing very good work. Their entry into the parliamentary board of the party is being considered," Advani said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained power in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the recently held assembly elections. It also won an absolute majority in Rajashtan, but fell narrowly short of majority in Delhi.

Talking about the no-confidence motion proposed by some Andhra Pradesh members in the Lok Sabha, Advani said that the Congress and its allies were doing all they could to prevent the no-confidence motion from being taken up.

"In the garb of ruckus in the house, the Congress and its allies are allies trying to see that the no-confidence motion is not taken up," he said.
